Pec pod Sněžkou, 542 21

The Polední Kámen - Midday Stone is one of the best-known rocks in the Krkonoše.

The place name is derived from the fact that on the Polish side of the Krkonoše, at midday, the Sun is seen just above the mountain. Hence, it was named Slonecznik (in Polish) and Polední Kámen accordingly. The Polední Kámen is situated near Mount Sněžka. There is a distinctive (isolated) rock tower at the front of the rock that resembles a figure that looks down the valley. Another interesting detail is a stone bench built by the first explorers of the Krkonoše region. From the top, you can see the territory of Poland up to the lake near Sobieszóv.
